Sweet Charity

A big thank you to Margaret and all the volunteers who helped make our MacMillan Coffee Morning a great success in September. This took place at Batley Older People’s Centre and raised £368 for the charity, who encourage venues to host ‘the world’s biggest coffee morning’ every September. Well done everyone concerned!

  
And another thank you to two more of our fab volunteers – Katie and Caroline – who helped raise £82.61 in collections for Ace Concern and Help the Aged. 90% of this money will be returned to the Resource Centre to be used directly for our work with older people.

Activities and groups on the doorstep

We are building our programme of social groups and activities for people aged 50+ at Batley Older People’s Centre on Upper Commercial Street. Come and join us!

Mature Minds

Who do you think you are?! Activities for women (male carers welcome) with Tracy & Aliyah, including memory boxes, dressing up and making a wall banner. These sessions are about sharing thoughts and ideas though creativity and expression in a friendly, supportive environment.

Dates: Thursdays October 15th, and November 5th and 12th.
Time: 1.15pm – 2.30pm
Cost: Free

Pencils & Paints with Jules –

From basics for absolute beginners to more complex painting, have a go at creating watercolour pictures using both pencils and paints. Don’t worry about being good with your hands or ‘artistic’ – this is for anyone to try, and we’ll support anyone needing a helping hand.

Dates: Fridays 16th, 23rd, 30th October and 6th November
Time: 1.15pm – 2.30pm
Cost: £1.50 including refreshments and materials

MELODIES 4 U

An afternoon of piano music and singing with Glo and Freda, including songs from the shows and old favourites.
