WRVS Kirklees Healthy Eating What is Kirklees Healthy Eating? How you can get involved.......... Women’s Royal Voluntary Services (WRVS) has some funding and might be able to invest in supporting your group. Working with Batley Resource Centre As the project aims to cover much of North Kirklees and some of the South, Batley Resource Centre has proved to be a good central location with easy accessibility for myself and volunteers. The Resource Centre has a number of different groups working within the Centre and some good contacts have been made with the added bonus of making more links with outside agencies. Some training courses have been organised by the Centre and this allows a degree of personal development. If you would like to discuss the project further or would like to do some volunteering please contact Batley Resource Centre and ask for Fazila Aswat.

Neighbourhood Management and Batley Resource Centre The Neighbourhood Management Team for Batley and Fieldhead work with residents and services in the most disadvantaged areas of the town. We work with residents to identify the issues that concern them e.g. untidy green spaces, or not enough positive activities for young people. We then work with services to address these needs. Although we are part of Kirklees Council, we need to have a base that is easily accessible to all members of the community. Batley Resource Centre is ideal – as well as being centrally located the friendly and welcoming reception is a bonus. The team has benefited from making links with other agencies based in the building. We have been able to easily find out about other workers who can help deliver services to the communities we work in and have developed joint work. We have developed a partnership with the Castle and Minster Credit Union. Thanks to Neighbourhood Management funding they are now able to offer cash facilities to their customers, and are working with schools to set up junior savings accounts. This will be an improvement in the range of services available to Batley residents, and encourages use of the Batley Resource Centre.
