Kirklees Good Neighbours Scheme

A community scheme offering a befriending service and accesible social transport to older people in Kirklees.

Working with Batley Resource Centre

"As the project aims to cover much of North Kirklees and some of the South, Batley Resource Centre has proved to be a good central location with easy accessibility for myself and volunteers. The Resource Centre has a number of different groups working within the Centre and some good contacts have been made with the added bonus of making more links with outside agencies. Some training courses have been organised by the Centre and this allows a degree of personal development" - Fazila.

If you would like to discuss the project further or would like to do some volunteering please contact Batley Resource Centre and ask for Fazila Aswat.

Batley and Dewsbury Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy uses a variety of techniques to help your muscles and joints work to their full potential. It can help repair damage by speeding up the healing process and reduce pain and stiffness. We provide a friendly, professional and highly skilled treatment tailored for each individual. We have a hands-on approach, and we do not just treat the signs and symptoms but try to address the root cause of your pain to prevent future problems. Our physiotherapists are governed by a strict code of ethics and they are all members of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and are HPC registered. Before any action is taken the physiotherapist will assess your
condition, diagnose the problem and help you to understand what is wrong. They will work with you to develop an effective treatment and will include advice on how to help yourself, for example with exercises. We may also use manipulation and mobilisations to reduce pain and stiffness, electrotherapy such as ultrasound, to speed up the healing process and acupuncture can also be used. You do not need a doctor's referral and can simply phone the clinic to make an appointment. We provide care to all major health companies however we advise you to check your policy as you may need a referral from your doctor prior to starting treatment.
